Indifference

HR Managers and Business Leaders: I read that 69% of customers leave a business relationship because of a perceived attitude of indifference on the part of the company.

While I don't know that exact numbers for employees leaving a company due to indifference, I do know that there are a number of ways to make sure employees don’t feel indifferent.

πŸ’‘ Make it fun. With a mostly remote work team, it's more important than ever to make sure team members feel a sense of connection – more than just a Teams call every once in a while.

Try virtual happy hours or simple team-building activities like a game of online Pictionary, Code Names, or buy into a hilarious bundle of games from Jackbox Games

πŸ’‘ Go Old School. Do in-person meetings.

Hold in-person company or department-wide meetings at which each person has a dedicated slide to share their successes or challenges over the previous 30 days.

At Printable, once a quarter, we fly all our out of town employees to Chicago for an in-person week, including company meetings, various social activities, and team building fun.

πŸ’‘ Share team member successes over email

One easy thing that every leadership team member can do is when you see someone doing a kick ass job communicating with a client or with a vendor over e-mail, forward that e-mail to the entire team with a message of appreciation.

You can lose an employee for any number of reasons, but a feeling of indifference should not be one of them!
