Here's why I'm curious: I've seen a big shift in my client base during the past year.
I used to work on branded-merchandise projects with marketers, sales managers/admins, event planners, and account execs.
But recently I'm talking to a lot more HR staff.
I think I know why there was a shift from sales and marketing to Human Resources as primary spenders of brand merchandising dollars:
The remote workforce.
As more and more companies push back the return to the office, they need to continue to engage their remote workers.
Expressing appreciation through branded gift sets, cleverly-worded and packaged food gifts and various other products we delivered to employee home addresses seems to be the job of the HR department.
Keeping remote employees feeling connected to the mother ship is more important than ever these days.
