NO to Cash or Gift Cards this Holiday Gifting

HR Professionals: Please don’t give cash or gift cards to employees during Q4!

I think we all can agree that in this current economic climate it’s harder than ever to find and retain top talent.

So, it’s easy to think that a gift card or cash appreciation gift would be part of the retention elixir.

But, please don’t give those.

Here are 3 reasons why gift cards and cash are not the best gifts for ee appreciation.

🤔It’s hard to pick a number that will be meaningful. For example, $100 will mean something very different to each person.

😒Yikes. It really shows exactly how much they mean to you (how much are they worth?)

😬Cash will be gone and not remembered. Facts.

A gift of branded merch can last for years.

If you give someone a Carharrt jacket – you will be remembered on a Fall day.

If you gift a Yeti or another piece of high-quality drinkware, you will be remembered at the Keurig machine.

If you give a Nike backpack, you will be remembered on day and beach trips.

I encourage you NOT to give cash or gift cards this gifting season.

Give a gift that shows your appreciation and has the impact you intended it to have!
