Screenless Communication in 2022

Back in December, while the Printable team was gathered in Chicago, we went to see The Office Experience exhibit, where the world of the TV Show, The Office comes to life.

Dwight's computer screen was staged like the episode where Jim tries to convince Dwight that the Dunder Mifflin server is auto messaging Dwight:

“I think I am programmed to be your enemy. I think it is my job to destroy you when it comes to selling paper”.

Dwight replies: “How do I know this isn’t Jim”?

While this form of remote communication is fictitious, it reminds me a bit about how we have all gravitated toward different ways of trying to “connect” with our co-workers during the pandemic.

• Slack?

• IM?

• Teams?

• Zoom?

• Facetime?

But what are some more substantial “screenless” ways to connect with someone halfway across the country?

Our clients seem to be craving alternative methods of ‘Screenless’ communication .

One solution has been custom-curating “Experiences in a Box” – a box of various swag, snacks and drinks (alcohol or non) that are shipped directly to recipient doorsteps. These are popular with meetings converted to virtual and employee recognition.

Another form of screenless communication has been our ready-to-mail interactive games for virtual meetings (like: Minute-to-Win it style games, Improv-In-A-Box and My Zoom Friend)

I think 2022 will be a lot like 2021…which means that ALL employers will need to come up with creative ways to engage their remote workers.

I expect screenless home engagement forms of communication to continue to be popular.
